You know you’re in the thick of summer when the 4th of July hits. This summer is flying by in warp speed! I glanced at my planner last week and realized I didn’t have a free day until 7/8…wow. Today I’ll show you my top picks for how to spend the 4th of July in Indiana. And what’s the 4th if you’re not dressed to impressed? I’ve got you covered..
Stars and Stripes – Star Spangled Outfits
No matter where you are around Indy, you have to show your patriotic pride! All of the images are linked directly to the item, so you don’t have to search the pages. Making things easy!
Vineyard Vines really knocked it out of the park when it came to red, white and whales. I just ordered the Women’s Shep Shirt above. Vineyard Vines is my go-to when needing something for a male in my life. Their shirts are comfortable. The belt and flip flops are perfect ways to have a little bit of red, white, and blue if you’re not into being over the top. My mom ordered the flip flops and they have arch support which feels amazing. Now I’m thinking I need the flip flops too…
If you are headed to a pool party or the lake, a patriotic swimsuit is the way to go! Loving this firecracker one-piece. The men’s swim trunks are an affordable classic as well! Anyone else obsessed with the Cat and Jack line for kids? Everything they put out is adorable!
United State of Indiana
I have the grey tank and it’s the softest tank I’ve ever owned. I love USI and these shirts are perfect for a 4th in Indiana!
Caters & Old Navy
How cute are these for your little kiddos? I’d be lying if I said I didn’t wish the hot dog shirt came in my size..
I recently came across Hoosier Proud and I love their classic designs. Both of these shirts are blue, which can be worn again at a colts or pacers game. Three birds, one stone ya’ll.
Every year Lilly Pulitzer puts out a different “4th of July” themed print. This one is absolutely adorable! I love that it’s on-theme, without being too in-your face.
Borderline obsessed with this look. I’m almost mad that I already ordered my outfit because this would be perfect.. and it’s under $30 right now!
Now that you have some outfit options.. let’s look into the events!
Star Spangled Events
6/24-6/25 – Fishers Freedom Festival
I am always impressed with how nice the Fishers Freedom Festival is! They have loads of family activities including a disc dog competition, Allisonville Meadows 5k, face painting, sand art, water balloon launch, a beer and wine garden… and so much more! This is a great event for everyone of all ages. The two day event finishes off with a great firework show on Sunday. For more information on the full schedule, please visit their website.
6/24 – Freedom Festival
Freedom Festival draws more than 50,000 people from Indy to Craig Park (Greenwood) every summer to celebrate the American Spirit. They also host a parade, have local food and beer vendors, and activities for your kiddos. More information here.

Sunday, July 2 at 8:00 p.m.

The Indianapolis Symphony always puts on an incredible patriotic celebration. This summertime tradition is not one to be missed. Pack a picnic, wear your red, white, and blue and enjoy classics such as chaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. They even have REAL CANNONS! Fireworks are also included. Buy tickets here
7/1 – Taste of Indy
Saturday, July 1 at 11:00am-9:00pm on Monument Circle
I am kicking myself for being out of town and missing this! This event will have food and beer vendors, exhibitors and live local music! They haven’t revealed all of the vendors yet, which makes for a fun surprise! This line up will definitely not disappoint. The vendors that have been revealed so far include Tijuana Flats, The Columbia Club, and Winners Circle! Tickets are only $8, which is less than I’d spend on a buritto at Chipotle. Talk about a deal! Free for all service members with a military ID. Kids under 6 eat for free as well.
7/4 – Metazoa Brewing Co Block Party
As an animal lover, I am a huge fan of Metazoa. Did you know they donate 5% of all profits to animal and wildlife organizations? They also have a pet-friendly tap room. Beer and doggies? Yes please! They are hosting a 4th of July party with an outdoor stage, festive food and specialty beer tappings all day long! It’s a great spot to watch the downtown fireworks. Tickets are $10 in advance, or $15 the day of. No kiddos allowed, so make sure your group is 21+.
7/4 – INDYpendence – Concert for Cancer –
This concert features performing artists 311, New Politicos and the Skints. If you haven’t been to a concert at the revamped Pan Am Plaza, I highly recommend it. It’s a very cool event space. The two beneficiaries of the concert are St. Francis Patient Assist Fund and Love Strength Hope Foundation. Ticket information is available on the indypendence website.
7/4 – CarmelFest
I love Carmel Fest! My favorite event is the parade. This year, the grand marshals are Korean War veterans. The theme is “Hats off to America”, with the challenge of wearing the most patriotic hat! The parade starts at 10:30 am rain or shine. For more information, please see the carmelfest website.
7/4 – Zionsville Lions Club Park Celebration
The Zionsville Lions club always puts on a wonderful event. The fireworks are incredible. This is their second largest fundraiser of the year! The lions club is heavily involved in the Zionsville Community. I cannot thank the Lions Club enough for all that they do. PS – the rain date is set for 7/8! More Info
Did I forget your hometown? Never Fear! FireworksIndiana.com has a list of all the firework shows to celebrate the 4th. Let me know in the comments below what your plans are. Family time? Friends time? Lake time? I’d love to hear from you 🙂
