Google is currently on tour, building donut shops and offering free google home minis. Wait.. what? Yeah, I totally had no idea what to expect either, but it was SO MUCH FUN!
Google Home Mini – Indianapolis Stop
I’ll check facebook events from time to time and see what’s going on. If you’re looking for fun events in and around Indy, give it a shot! I saw that Google was building a donut shop and added it to my planner without a second thought. Did you know they only picked NINE cities for the tour? Indianapolis made the list! You know if Google, the king of the internet, is involved… then it has to be something good.
They are traveling around the US, building their pop-up donut shop and giving away free donuts or google home minis. So, why a donut shop? It’s supposed to represent the size of the Google Home Mini. They are as small as a donut, with the power of a super hero. I know what you’re thinking.. does anyone actually win one? KEEP READING!!
The weather provided the perfect grey background for the eye-catching millennial pink donut shop. The google team members were walking around downtown promoting the event like crazy. I loved their positive, infectious energy. Perfect event to visit after the mini marathon! Shout out to all of my runner-readers out there, you guys killed it!
The minute I laid eyes on the donut shop, I fell in love. The glowing G made it all real. I’m so glad Google picked Indianapolis as one of their tour stops. There always seemed to be a consistent line, but the google staff did a wonderful job of keeping it moving! Being Indy, we seemed to luck out with a small line. In other cities, they would have around 800 people in line before they even opened. If you’re reading this from another city.. get there EARLY!
Before we dive into things, let’s talk Google Home. What is google home? It’s a smart speaker. You are able to give it demands such as “Hey Google, play my spotify playlist.” Or, “Hey Google, what’s the traffic look like today?” The Google Home Mini is a miniature version of the Google Home. I was debating adding this to my Christmas list. Now.. it looks like I’ll be picking one up for all of my family members. The Google Home Mini retails for $49.99.
As you entered the shop, you were instructed to ring a bell. This activated the google home mini. You than gave it a prompt, and it answered a question. A box would drop down the chute. The box, shaped like a home, contained either two donuts or a Google Home Mini. Did I mention the donuts were locally sourced from Taylor’s Bakery? They make sure all the donuts are from a local bakery in every city. Basically, you can’t lose. The google event team members informed us that the black and white sprinkles were chosen to represent the Indianapolis 500!
Megan and I both ended up winning! The odds seemed very good as we watched other fans enter the shop and come out winners.
I was most impressed with all of the detail that went into the event. It was flawlessly executed. Big thank you to google for having me! It was the perfect way to kick off a fabulous weekend.
Did you get a chance to check it out? I wanna hear your thoughts! Would you guys be interested in a Google Home Mini giveaway?
