Feel Good Friday – April 21st, 2017
I started coming up with three good news stories every friday and sharing them with my friends on facebook. The feedback has been amazing! Uplifting news is something we should all celebrate and enjoy. People really seem to enjoy my Feel Good Friday posts so…without further ado..
Feel Good Friday
1. Kathrine Switzer the first Woman to ever officially run the Boston Marathon, completed the marathon again 50 years later. Women were not allowed to run the marathon in her initial year of completion, 1967. How crazy is that?
2. Staff Sgt. Jose Luis Sanchez, A Marine who lost his leg in Afghanistan, ran the Boston Marathon with the US Flag. The flag was sent to him by his patrol unit as he recovered from stepping on an IED. He boxed up the flag for three years because he did not want to acknowledge it. When he opened up the box and red the inspirational quotes that were included, he was motivated to run. He wanted to inspire others to be motivated and channel their PTSD into something positive. Thank you to all of our men and women in service.
3. Life expectancy in Africa has increased by 9.4 years since 2000, thanks to improvements in child survival, progress in malaria control, and expanded access to HIV/AIDS drugs.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Don’t forget to join me at Capriotti’s tomorrow for their grand opening! More information on their website – Capriotti’s Castleton
